I know Mike (we're both here in Seattle, the jewel of the Pacific Northwet) but I have to disagree. International Ukulele Day was "declared" some years back (3? 4?) and it's August 23rd, the date (in 1879) that the British barque SS Ravenscrag arrived in Hawaii bearing Joao Fernandes, Augusto Dias, Jose do Espirito Santo and Manuel Nunes, who all went on to develop the ukulele.
Actually, I believe it was called "International Play Your Ukulele Day" or some such, but the intent was the same.

Best part, it's Trade Marked!
I'm declaring tomorrow as World Elly Eat Peanut Butter Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. While playing the ukulele. While wearing wool socks. Huzzah!
Huh? EVERY day is 'Ukulele Day around our house! Sort of like World Breathing Day, we don't need a reminder.
Now World Take Out The Trash Day, perhaps that's one we need a special reminder day for.
Still waiting for Buy the Editor of Ukulelia a vintage Martin 3M day.

August 23, 2011 is a ways away and we have some time to plan. What will ever happen to the Amiable Ukulele Mike's shipment of 800 T-Shirts?
I'm still waiting for 'Loyal Readers Get a Free Ukulelia T-shirt Day'. Well...
lol, Ron.
If "International Play Your Ukulele Day" hasn't been trade marked, Mike could corner the market!
